Abstract

Reservoir modeling of production of hot geothermal fluid and natural gas from a geopressured reservoir in the Wilcox formation, Texas, for geothermal-electricity generation is carried out primarily on the basis of well-log data. The reservoir modeling takes into account operational considerations such as a constant target flow rate, a 30-year reservoir lifetime, and minimum wellhead pressure as well as uncertainty in reservoir parameters such as gas saturation and reservoir volume. The results of the reservoir modeling are presented and their relevance to other similar geopressured/geothermal wells with the potential for natural-gas production is discussed.
