Abstract
A family of natural-laminar-flow airfoils, the S904 and S905, for cooling-tower fans has been designed and analyzed theoretically. The two primary objectives of high maximum lift, relatively insensitive to roughness, and low profile drag have been achieved. The constraint on the lift a zero angle of attack has not been satisfied. The constraints on the pitching moment and the airfoil thicknesseshave essentially been satisfied. The airfoils should exhibit docile stalls.
