Abstract
The intention for this project was to evaluate drone photogrammetry as a suitable alternative or addition to the current building point-cloud scanning workflow at NREL. Drone technology has advanced greatly in the past 10 years, along with computer hardware and software. With these new developments in mind, drone technology was tested on several buildings to obtain photogrammetry images, while computers were used to process them into point cloud data. LIDAR scans using a ground-based scanner were collected as well, and the CloudCompare software was used to observe similarities and differences in accuracy.
