Synergies Connecting the Photovoltaics and Solid-State Lighting Industries

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaper

Abstract

Recent increases in the efficiencies of phosphide, nitride, and organic light-emitting diodes (LEDs) inspire a vision of a revolution in lighting. If high efficiencies, long lifetimes, and low cost can be achieved, solid-state lighting could save our country many quads of electricity in the coming years. The solid-state lighting (SSL) and photovoltaic (PV) industries share many of the samechallenges. This paper explores the similarities between the two industries and how they might benefit by sharing information.
