Abstract

GaN quantum dot dispersions were synthesized by colloidal chemistry. The GaN quantum dots exhibited the optical absorption and emission spectra of isolated quantum dots. Analysis shows that the dots are not affected by interdot interactions due to quantum dot agglomeration arising in powder preparations. Photoluminescence spectroscopy shows band-edge emissions with peaks between 3.0 and 3.8 eV, while photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy shows two excited-state transitions.
