Abstract

Synthetic feces can be utilized to study waste treatment systems while minimizing human risk through exposure to fecal pathogens. This presentation compares properties of synthetic waste to human waste and showcases the utility of synthetic feces for a pilot study on anaerobic digestion taking place in Fairbanks, AK. This workshop also demonstrates how to create synthetic feces and engages participants in a hands-on experience.
