Abstract

Recent growth in the use of solar electricity generation technologies has prompted increased scrutiny of the operational benefits and impacts of these variable generation sources. Like wind, the solar resource is both variable and uncertain. This presents challenges for maintaining system reliability at low cost, similar to those associated with the deployment of wind.
