Abstract
The goal of the DOE Office of Industrial Technologies' Motor Challenge Program is to increase industry's use of energy-efficient electric motor systems. This issue discusses several of the program's recent success stories, including that of Nisshinbo, California, the only spinning and weaving plant in the western half of the United States, which achieved greatly improved ventilation systemperformance by installing variable frequency drives.
