    Abstract

    This issue's lead story provides details concerning DOE's Motor Challenge Allied Partner Program, which is establishing a network of local and regional 'allies' that can provide manufacturers with on-site advice and expertise to assist companies in reducing costs and improving productivity of electric motor systems. Also featured are articles on Round II of the Showcase Demonstration Program,which seeks to develop innovative, energy-efficient technical solutions for electric-motor-driven systems; and the PowerSavings Partners program, which promises to save a large cotton-processing plant in California $85,000 a year in energy costs.
