Abstract
Biomass and bioenergy together make up about 4% of the total primary energy use in the USA. Estimates for the contributions for both 1991 and the 1994-1995 time period are given in Table 1. While these data show only small changes in most categories of usage, there are a number of trends underway that affect the future prospects of each application.
