Abstract

The ADAMS code, from Mechanical Dynamics Inc. has been selected by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory as an analysis tools for horizontal axis wind turbines. The code places no limits on the type or magnitude of displacements. This paper reports on experience using ADAMS to model the AWT-26 prototype, the natural frequencies of the operating rotor, the agreement with measured field data, and the various problems that have arisen.
