Abstract
This brief discusses the two types of testing, modal and vibration, that are offered at the National Wind Technology Center as part of its comprehensive structural-testing program. Modal testing, which has become an integral part of computer-aided product design and development, provides designers with data that allows them to validate and refine the analytical models used in turbine design.Vibration testing is performed to help engineers understand operational loads on a wind turbine.
