Wind Powering America Anemometer Loan Program: A Retrospective

Abstract

This white paper details the history, mechanics, status, and impact of the Native American Anemometer Loan Program (ALP) conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy's Wind Powering America (WPA) initiative. Originally conceived in 2000 and terminated (as a WPA activity) at the end of FY 2011, the ALP has resulted in the installation of anemometers at 90 locations. In addition, the ALP providedsupport for the installation of anemometers at 38 additional locations under a related ALP administered by the Western Area Power Administration.
